Roger Staubach’s wife Marianne Staubach is another solid philanthropist and community outreacher. Just a few weeks ago both Roger and his wife Marianne attended something called the Connecting Point of Park Cities Luncheon. It was a special presentation where the two of them gave a speech and auctioned off a bunch of stuff signed by Roger in order to raise money. The CPPC is an “all-inclusive day program for adults with disabilities and offers a wide range of educational, vocational, social and recreational services for adults with special needs,” according to them. Sounds like a good program to raise money for to me.

Roger Staubach’s wife Marianne Staubach grew up in Cincinnati (one of the hardest cities to spell in America), but she’s lived in Dallas for the past 45 years, and this is in no small part due to Roger being a Dallas Cowboy. They clearly settled into the place during and after his stint with the Cowboys. It’s funny how it’s just a blip on their overall life journey now, as he is the executive chairman of Jones Lang LaSalle, a large and powerful real estate company. Marianne serves on the board of advisors of the Jesuit College Preparatory School, the Catholic Foundation Board of Advisors. She’s also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and drives the van that delivers the meals. She served on the Catholic Foundation Board and the Visiting Nurse Association Board. As you can see, there’s a lot of Boards involved when you talk about the Staubachs. Serving on boards is what these people do, and they do it well. like that they help out the CPPC since adults with disabilities, depending on their support system, can have an awfully difficult time trying to find opportunities in America. I would guess Roger Staubach’s wife Marianne Staubach keeps very busy with all these responsibilities.

From what I can tell, Justin Tucker’s girlfriend Amanda Bass has not yet tied the knot with him after his epic and internet-documented marriage proposal back in 2013. In case you didn’t hear about it, Justin set up a dinner on the rooftop of some swanky place on the Baltimore waterfront, and they had a dandy time. After dinner, he said he needed to go use the restroom, and then he had the staff escort the lovely Amanda up to the top very top of the place where Justin had set up a huge field of candles with some live mellow background music. She walked up to him, he dropped to a knee, and he got a big “yes.”

So flash forward to now, and they’re still not married. Are we to believe that Justin Tucker’s girlfriend Amanda Bass is expecting something even more flashy than their marriage proposal, because that would take a bit of doing. I’m sure this is not the case, however, as Amanda seems pretty low-maintenance and a cool chick. I always envision being a pro kicker is the easiest job ever, but it’s probably not. It must get high-pressure, and it’s probably also really boring practicing kicking all the time instead of mixing it up with some catching, running, and passing type stuff.

Justin Tucker’s girlfriend Amanda Bass displays a strong love for Baltimore sports on her Twitter, as she incorporates a lot of Orioles tweets in her steady stream of Ravens cheering. Not only that, Amanda is a true fan of college football. That’s pretty rare for professional athletes’ wives and girlfriends. It’s a rare sight to see a girlfriend that is a neutral party start tweeting about various college football games, folks. Amanda enjoys herself some sports. To put a cap on her life, she seems to have quite a stable circle of friends that come to visit her fairly often as well. She’s a class act.

Mike Ditka’s wife Diana Ditka had some very clear statements to make about Ray Rice’s wife last year in September. In regards to Janay Palmer blaming the media for ruining their lives, Diana Ditka’s official statement was: “I’ve never understood why men hit women. It’s tragic, but it happens. But Rice’s wife blaming the press Tuesday for ruining their lives by pursuing the story is wrong. What happened is her husband’s fault. She loves him. That’s her choice. But what happened in that elevator is not the fault of the press for pushing the story and moving it ahead.”

Diana was responding to Janay’s comments that came after the second video of her brutal beating came out. She basically put all her anger on the media for following the story and blamed them for ruining their lives. Naturally, Diana hits the nail on the head here by saying clearly that the media did nothing wrong. There’s a strong impulse towards denial coming from Janay Rice that she may not be able to face until later in her life, but the person who ruined their lives is Ray Rice. One of the most interesting things she said was “you’d think it was a country of people who never made a mistake.” It is true that people make mistakes, but most of the country watching the story clearly wanted a more punctuated end to the their relationship– not to see Janay stay with Ray. Janay said she would tell her daughter “this is not something you should tolerate” and then she said she would tell her “people make mistakes, and it’s how you learn from them.” They seem like polar opposite messages to me.

Anyway, let’s get back to Mike Ditka’s wife Diana Ditka. She went on to say that she believes money can be the root of all evil and that “it can empower you to believe you can get away with anything. But it’s not the NFL’s job to teach you how to be a husband…They are finally sending Rice a message by pulling the plug on the money.” Diana has a clear understanding of men in sports, as she should. Diana was married to Mike after he divorced his first wife, and she’s known for emphasizing that she’s not his second wife but his “last one.” They were married in 1976 and had been dating since 1971. She told the Chicago Reader that honesty is Mike’s strong point.

Adam Jones wife (or Pacman Jones’ wife if you prefer) Tishana Jones did not have a major change in name when it came to marriage. Tishana Jones, whom was formerly named Tishana Holmes and you have to imagine at least a handful of customer service reps made the mistake for Tishana Jones even before she was married. Okay, you get the point; the two names are very similar. The couple was married on July 5, 2014 in Atlanta. There were two best men at the ceremony, one of which was “Neon” Deion Sanders, who I’ve always liked because he’s a fun-lovin’ fella.

The couple has a few daughters, and the youngest one coming more than five years ago. Adam Jones’ wife has been in a relationship with him for more than eight years total. Their youngest daughter is named Triniti, and she’s a delightful young lady, though Mr. Pacman has said “All I want in life is for my kids to have what they want,” which can sometimes lead to spoiled little kids. Their older daughter is named Zaniyah. Anyway, Tishana was recently surprised by Pac when he had “Uncle Snoop Dogg” drop in to pay her and the girls a visit. I get the impression that Snoop Dogg knows pretty much every big athlete in every sport because I’ve seen many pictures with him hanging out with tons of different people. The guy likes to chill with the high-octane performers.

I saw a video posted by the Pac whereby he gave away a monstrous amount of sneakers and clothes for charity. When I say a monstrous amount, I’m talking about at least a hundred pairs of shoes. I cannot say if it was Pacman Jones’ wife’s idea, but it was a very nice gesture. Tishana herself enjoys a night out now and again, and her and Pacman love to eat out and go dancing. Rap concerts are always on the table too, and they went to see “Uncle Snoop” this summer and hung out onstage while he did his thing.

Stedman Bailey’s girlfriend Stephanie Durrant is the mother of their child and is on standby to him at the hospital after he was shot in the head on November 24. She and their young son, also named Stedman, have spent a huge amount of time there at the hospital holding his hand and watching him recover slowly from surgery. She said of the stay: “this is the hardest thing I ever had to deal with. I want to say thank you all so very much for praying for Stedman and my family.” She then went on to say that his surgery went well, and they were just hoping for a speedy recovery.

​Stephy is a beautiful woman. I’m a big fan of her personal style, and I always appreciate a woman who has a voice. Shortly before his shooting, Stedman Bailey’s girlfriend posted online “I don’t care if my man has $1 or $1,000,000, I’m going to still take my ass to work.” That’s a somewhat uncommon sentiment for a lot of successful player wives and girlfriends. She’s also said that this generation is defined by equating opinions with hating, showing feelings with being weak, and being a stripper with being a celebrity. Though this seems like somewhat of a simplification, she is most certainly making her own opinions known, and you’ve got to respect that. Again, the lady’s got a voice.

Naturally, Stephy’s favorite activity is hanging out and taking care of her son. She’s with him all the time, and she likes to bring him to playdates with other kids. She’s got that type of look about her that says, “I know who I am, and I know what I value,” and maybe the only thing that’s kind of missing from her social media feed is a bit of a sense of humor, but hey she’s got things to say! Another nice little post of hers was: “The moment you’re ready to quit is usually the moment right before a miracle happens.” Let’s hope Stedman Bailey’s girlfriend brings that kind of toughness to the hospital as he recovers from his injuries.

Chip Kelly’s wife Jennifer Jenkins was interviewed in 2015, well after their divorce, by the prestigious Washington Post about her seven-year marriage with the Chip. Nobody knew he was even married, apparently. According to her, every media account of him was that he was a bachelor, and all her friends would ask her what the deal was with that. This really is pretty odd. I mean, he’s not a 23 year-old John Lennon, guys. He doesn’t have a massive army of teenage girls buying posters of him and lusting after him. Or…maybe he does? The mystery revealed…

According to Chip Kelly’s ex-wife, the guy who was just fired from the Philadelphia Eagles organization spent a summer running with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. That’s pretty cool– very Hemingway. It was also mentioned that while Kelly was the coach of Oregon, he lived in a house with almost nothing in it except a big-screen television. Hey, he’s like Steve Jobs in the 1980’s. He’s the Steve Jobs of football coaching, you’ll see! Anyway, Jennifer Jenkins is still friends with Chip, and she thinks a lot of the marriage cover-up is pretty funny. She said it hurt, as if seven years were washed away, but now it’s mostly funny to her.

The couple met back in 1989 when Chip Kelly’s ex-wife was a senior at New Hampshire College. They got hitched in 1992, and, like I said, the marriage went for about seven years. Jennifer keeps a photo of their wedding on her iPhone just to prove the whole thing happened since no one believed her. They got divorced in 1999 because football was straining their relationship. Anyway, this is all sort of ancient history, and Chip clearly never got married again. His real wife is football. Jennifer now runs a company that sells little care packages for people with the flu or colds, and it’s named after her mom. I think that’s pretty cool, and I like it as a business idea.

A little while ago we told you about the twisted tale of Josh Norman and his daredevil baby mama. Now, we present you with a more conventional tale of love and longing. Ladies and gentleman, Josh Norman’s girlfriend Nisa Alston is a lovely young chick living in Atlanta. Originally from North Carolina, she reportedly spent seven years as a campus director at a school called American Intercontinental University, which has a nice ring to it even though I’ve never heard of it. Then again, I’ve never heard of a lot of things so what does it matter?

Josh Norman’s girlfriend is now an HR person, and she loves her job except for when she’s got to fire people. She hates that aspect, and I completely understand. They should just create androids to take care of that messy part of human resources. She’s a devout Christian, but she’s not so in-your-face about it. She likes the feeling of being in a room where people are getting spiritual, and she often talks about how she enjoys praying and thinking about God as a concept. She describes herself as a “giver by nature”, says she loves to “make others happy/smile” and never expects anything back so when love is given back it means a lot to her. That’s very sweet sounding. She is a also hard worker, according to her.

Nisa has managed to insert herself into the upper management power structure of the company she works at, and her boss nominated her for some kind of CEO program training program. I don’t entirely understand what the program is, but it sounds like an honor to be nominated for it so good job, Nisa! She’s got a bubbly and lively energy about her that makes it easy to like her. Her friends all love her too, unlike people with friends that don’t actually like them, I guess. I mention that about her friends because one of them sent her a present in the mail for no other reason than to send her a present, and I think it was before Christmas.

Mike Zimmer’s wife Vikki Zimmer passed away in October of 2009, when Mike was the defensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals. There was a very detailed and poignant story written about Mike’s experiences shortly after losing Vikki, and it detailed how Mike was trying to bounce back from losing her. The article was written by an ESPN writer, and it included details about how he’d be sitting in a coffee shop and reflecting on the couples he’d see and the older people who were sitting alone. The article portrayed him as an extremely lonely fella’ after losing Vikki, and it said he would dote over his daughters, vigilant about how they were holding up. It’s a tough thing to go through.

Mike and Vikki met at Weber State University while he was just starting out as a coach there. She was a ballerina who didn’t care a lick about football, according to Mike. Mike Zimmer’s wife married him within a year of meeting him, and Mike’s pal said he could tell they’d get married because of the way Mike was acting. Vikki instantly became Mike’s “better half,” as she acted like the softener in a cement mix, if you will. Mike himself has a kind of hard edge to his personality, and I can appreciate that. So sometimes it’s good to have a refined lady to reign it all in.

The classic player/coach wife behavior is what I call the “fireback.” That’s when someone badmouths the team in some way, and someone close to the team “fires back” at them. You can tell a lot about how that person relates to the players involved by how they fire back. In the case of Mike Zimmer’s wife, she would fire back with “You don’t know how hard they work!” This to me is very telling of what kind of person she was because she’s basically saying, “Hey, you should try and be empathetic to these people– they work very hard to play well, and you should appreciate that more.” It’s a very non-fan way to reproach someone who’s badmouthing your husband, and yet it’s also civilized and unaggressive. Mike and Vikki raised three children, and Vikki was the rock of the family that everyone could rely on and look up to.

Jadeveon Clowney’s girlfriend Najah Re has got a pretty nifty name, wouldn’t you say? Sounds very Star Wars to me. She’s also got a nifty new baby thanks to the big fella’. They had their son,​ ​Jahlil​, ​in mid October of 2015.​ This was indeed a happy time for Jadeveon ​in a year that was marred badly by another personal event which we’ll get to. First, let’s explore the lovely lady whom Jadeveon calls his boo.

Najah ​has an extreme personal outlook: stressing the idea of positivity above all else. A good example of this ​can be found in her ​tweet: “Negative vibes or a lack of positive ones is a quick way to get cut off. I​ ​d​on’t ​c​are​ who you are. Friend, family, foe.”​ While many level-headed folks might call this positive-centric approach insidious, facile, and even dangerous, the other way to look at it is that she’s a big fan of anything and everything that makes her feel empowered. We’re all entitled to our opinions, after all (even if Najah will cut you off for having too many negative ones). Jadeveon Clowney’s girlfriend is very much in love with Jadeveon, and she often cites how often she prays for him. She has said that she prays for him and thinks about him more than anyone, and that is how she knows she loves him.

​Jadeveon has had a bit of a rough time with his family recently. His father, David Morgan, shot a handgun at two men at a strip club in August of 2015. He’s facing up to a sixty-year sentence. Yikes, no wonder Jadeveon Clowney’s girlfriend says she’ll cut off people with negative vibes! Shooting bullets at people tends to be seen in a pretty negative light. Jadeveons’ father was sent to prison for eleven years when Jadeveon was two years old. They allegedly reconciled when he was a teenager, but this will certainly put a strain on the relationship.

DeSean Jackson’s girlfriend Kayla Phillips is another beautiful, cool hot lady. I say another because the man has a history of hanging with desirable women. Any man who claims this isn’t a badge to wear proudly is putting on airs. I mean, if you date both Natalia Garibotto and my personal favorite, Chantel Jeffries, you are doing jussst fine, Captain. But you know– this kind of peerless track record brings with it a kind of pressure. Among other men, you’re expected now to date only the very finest women. That may sound a little crass, but that’s the pattern of expectations that develops.

I’m glad to report our dear Kayla Phillips belongs in that class of beautiful women. DeSean’s Jackson’s girlfriend knows she’s ultra pretty, but like most successful Instagram models she also has a cool personality that shines through. But yeah, she’s got one of those faces that is so pretty you kind of just get lost looking at it– like a painting by a master. She makes money by advertising products in her picture posts on Instagram, and some of them are products that you’ve probably heard of, but I’m not gonna’ mention any of them because it’s tacky. But it is a valid business model, and that need not be disputed since she’s found success with it.

Now then, it should most definitely be mentioned that lovely Kayla just gave birth to a child, and DeSean is the father. As you might have guessed, he’s a very cute little guy. The same can also be said of her five year-old that was fathered by a fella’ named Omyn Newkirk, who is also a football player, though of far less fame. He didn’t have too many nice things to say about DeSean Jackson’s girlfriend, but I’m not going to repeat what he said because I get the sense that his words were imbibed with a little thing called bitterness. When it comes to women dating athletes, I believe they get a bad wrap a lot of the time. Kayla does not strike me as a malicious or sneaky person. On the contrary, she strikes me as a sweetheart.

Tamba Hali’s girlfriend Tammary has been with him dating back to sometime near the beginning of 2015, from what I can tell. Tamba was definitely involved with another woman named Andrea Walter before that, but I’m unclear about when that ended. What is clear, though, is that Andrea stopped posting anything about Tamba (or anything at all, for that matter) at the tail end of 2014. In fact, even before that he was dating a professional weightlifter named Dana, but we’re not even going to bother talking about that since it’s such ancient history.

Before Tamba Hali’s girlfriend got together with him, Andrea Walter was a graduate from the University of Missouri and was attached to him since early 2013, according to the talk forums on the internet. Now that she’s out of the picture, it should be said that Tamba is very public about his relationship with Tammary. She’s often referred to as “Proud Mary,” and she has a lot to be proud about since she’s pregnant with big Tamba’s kid. They took a celebratory shot of her and his other two kids from past relationships recently, and I gotta’ say I’m happy for them. It looks like Tamba has finally found the lady of his dreams. That’s the way he talks about her on Instagram, at least.

Tammary herself is a laid back kind of girl, and awfully happy to be a mom-to-be. She goes to all the games she can, but that’ll be put on hiatus after she has the baby. Tamba Hali’s girlfriend has also been known to spend time with him at the actual training facility where he goes to get ready each season, and he’s taken several pics with her there. They’ve also traveled to Ohio together to visit her family. That’s definitely a sign that things are being taken for real. Once you get the family of each partner involved, you’ve committed not only to each other but also to their family members, in a sense. Here’s to hoping everything goes smoothly for Tammary and the new baby!

Cameron Heyward’s wife Allie Heyward is the type of beautiful blonde who took a lot of pride in having a new last name. Some women like to keep their old one, and some women like to take the new one. I can actually see it both ways, to be honest. I think it all depends on whether or not you view your last name as integral to your personal identity or not, and it would appear that the lovely Allie was cool with dropping Schwarzwalder, her old handle. I like both last names, personally. According to a brief profile that a Pittsburgh magazine did of their wedding, as soon as Cam spotted Allie on campus, he was fully into her. In fact, he made the statement that he wasn’t going to let her go as soon as he spotted her. I dig that romantic vibe, Cammy-boy.

So then, the couple was married on May 11, 2013, and they’ve since added two Labradoodle dogs named Cooper and Louie to their family roster. That’s not all, either. They had a kid in November of 2015, and his name is Callen Grey. Now that is a good name for a baby. You don’t have to name your kid Gucci or Lamborghini, just go with something that sounds cool but doesn’t sound wreak of consumerism. Anyway, this is a big transition for Cameron Heyward’s wife, and they’re both taking it in stride. The kicker is they added the second dog in the same year as adding the child. I guess that’s not too much of a stretch for an expanding family, but usually it’s a once-per-year deal.

Before the pregnancy took over her life, Cam and Allie were busy going to fun stuff like Garth Brooks concerts, Jimmy Fallon broadcasts, and working at the International Motorcycle Show. Allie works for an insurance company, and at motorcycle shows, she sits on bikes looking like the pretty woman she is, and she sells insurance. Hey, put me next to her and I’d probably empty whatever was in my checking account for a bunch of motorcycle insurance, and I don’t even own a bike!

Chris Boswell’s girlfriend Morgan Kauffmann is a classic pretty blonde with a penchant for date nights. Your typical date with Mr. Boswell is going to consist of a trip to a well-appointed steak house in Pittsburgh. The couple reside in the city where the man plays, unlike another kicker I profiled recently: Mr. Cairo Santos, who lives 500 miles away from his girlfriend, Caitlin Hodes. Miss Kauffmann is cute and sexy in that girl-next-door kind of way– the kind of cute and sexy that just never gets old. In one of her photographs, she’s got such big, anime-like eyes that it looks like she’s photoshopped them to be larger, but that is very likely not the case. She’s just that cute.

Morgan likes kids, and she often babysits her sister’s child, whom entertains her to no end. I can tell because she’s taken a photo of him eating cake with a spoon. Grown-ups do it too. Chris Boswell’s girlfriend also recently took a trip to a beautiful and little-known attraction called the Fort Worth Water Gardens, which is a beautiful piece of architectural park that was built in 1974 in the underrated city of Fort Worth. Morgan and Chris just added a puppy to their family, and her name is Ellie. Now, I can’t be entirely certain if it actually belongs to them or if it’s an addition to her actual family, but she’s clearly smitten with the little lady.

Morgan worked for a shoe company in Texas until recently, and I believe she is originally from Fort Worth, hence her hangout session at the Fort Worth Water Gardens. The shoe company she worked also had a Dallas location, and lord knows there’s a plenty of beautiful blondes like her living in Dallas, so that may also be a possible place of origin. Since Chris was signed by the Houston Texans in 2014, he likely met her in the area. Chris Boswell’s girlfriend is now firmly entrenched in the life of a placekicker, and oh what a life it is.

Cairo Santos’ girlfriend Caitlin Hodes just graduated from Tulane University this year. The couple took a pleasant little photo of her in the arms of young Mr. Santos, complete with her graduation cap and gown. Caitlin met him when she was what she called a “wee freshman”. She reminisced about this time a few weeks ago, saying she wished she was back in those days eating and drinking. Yeah, I second eating and drinking being a good time, Caitlin, and if you look skinny and attractive like Caitlin does it’s even more fun. Having spent so much time in New Orleans, she’s slowly adjusting to life in Chicago. Yes, she lives in Chicago while Cairo plays for Kansas City. In case you were wondering, that’s a distance of 527 miles.

Don’t ask me how the two champs do it. Cairo Santos’ girlfriend is a loving and trusting young lass. That ain’t a judgement of any kind, either– that’s just a statement about it being tough to be away from your significant other. Generally speaking, girlfriends come along for the ride to their man’s team’s city. You’ve got to respect Caitlin for sticking to her guns and living where she wants to live. She does, of course, visit Cairo in the Westport District of Kansas City. I’ve been there– it’s okay– it’s Kansas City. The couple also enjoyed a lovely vacation to the northern regions of Italy on the borders of Switzerland. I’ve actually known people from this region, and often times the people living in Italy will identify as Swiss and vice versa. It’s an interesting spot.

Aside from being 500 miles away, Cairo Santos’ girlfriend is basically an ideal girlfriend. Trust me, a creepy guy like me who’s profiled hundreds and hundreds of sports wives and girlfriends can tell who is cool and who isn’t. Cairo and Caitlin are an “activities” couple, meaning at this stage in their relationship, they do all kinds of cute stuff together. This means going to Universal Studios, Florida and taking what Caitlin called a “dorky framed picture” of each other together. This means jumping on a plane and flying back to New Orleans with your boyfriend for some nostalgia time. Above all, this means going to an actual Chiefs game, and when as cool as Caitlin, you travel to Kansas City and you watch your boyfriend kick some footballs.

Derrick Johnson’s wife Tamika Johnson was featured in a strange profile by a website called Pro Player Insiders. I don’t really understand what the point of the article was. It focused on the independent design of a special sequined football jersey for her. Yes, you read that right. It was also written by the lady who designed that sequined football jersey, which was somewhat confusing. I thought I was on some sort of fashion website. Let’s be clear why we at Player Wives are here: to talk about the wives and girlfriends of professional athletes. Now, if there so happens to be something peripheral on the side (such as a specially-designed sequined football jersey) then we will briefly mention it, but it’s important that you, dear readers, know what we’re serving up.

Now then, having established that Derrick Johnson’s wife enjoys herself some sequins, let’s talk about what else this lady’s been up to. First off, they’re a fairly conventional sports couple (in a good way). They’ve got one kid who’s going on about six or seven years now, and they do a good deal of community-based events. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re all charities, but they like to get out there and mix it up. One example that was a charity was a celebrity waiter night that Tamika went to and watched Derrick be a waiter. The couple run a charity called Defend The Dream Foundation, and it exists to help poor kids.

All of this goodness started way back when Tamika moved to Kansas City after he was drafted. Derrick Johnson’s girlfriend was apparently with him for seven years before he popped the question on a beach, according to our pal the sequin jersey designer. They took a vacation to Malibu, and while they were on the beach, he had a waiter deliver a gift basket with some chocolates in it. Instead of chocolates, there was a ring with a big ‘ole shiny rock attached. What a smooth operator. Tamika is sweet like chocolate and strong like a diamond. Well, if that wasn’t the message, then I guess it’s still a good way to think about the proposal, right?

Dustin Hopkins’ wife Gabrielle Hopkins was a former cheerleader at FSU. I’ll give you one guess where Gabrielle met Dustin. If you said Florida State, you win the grand prize of getting to hear a bit more about her. If you said anything else I encourage you to go back to the beginning of this post and try again. So now that you know where Gabrielle met Dusty, or as I like to call him “Lil’ Duster,” we can begin to explore the dynamic of their relationship. The best place to start is the gigantic diamond ring that was placed on Gabby’s finger in May of 2014.

This has got to be one of the largest rings– if not the largest– I’ve ever seen a placekicker give his fiance. Good for you, pal, you’re making all the other kickers look like fools! Dustin Hopkins’ wife said that Lil’ Duster “gets props for the rest of his life” after he gave it to her. I mean, even she knew he was sort of overcompensating here. Duster, you’re a sweet guy. A few weeks prior to giving her the ring, Gabby gave him a thorough thrashing at the bowling alley, beating him 144 to 95 and talking a little smack while doing it. I think my best score was 139, so I guess that means she’s better than me too.

I am gonna’ keep it kind of real here, though, guys: Lil’ Duster and Gabby are two hardcore fake-smilers. They rank pretty high on the fake-smile-o-meter. We appreciate the effort, though. Dustin Hopkins’ wife was proposed in late November of 2013, from what I can tell. I saw a picture of Gabrielle beaming with happiness while Lil’ Duster knelt down with the giant prismatic rock that took a bite out of his checking account. Up to that point, they’d been dating for a bit over three years, which means they met in 2009. They’d done all sorts of vacationey stuff leading up to the proposal– the entire array of romantic dating activities, including going on a cruise. Looks to me like this couple is still cruising right along.

Christine Michael’s girlfriend Alma Medrano was incredibly hard to track down – but we found her. A message board rumor led to a name. That name led  to a Google+ page (yup, apparently people still use that). We were able to match the photo on that Google+ page to a photo on Christine Michael’s Twitter account – and just like that we Christine Michael’s girlfriend. Or at least our best guess as to who that is currently.

An article from October 2014 said that Christine Michael and his girlfriend were recently engaged. Though the article did not provide a name, we’re operating under the assumption the girlfriend in question is Alma Medrano (and admit we could be wrong). She apparently wanted to be married that coming January (near her birthday), but C. Mike wasn’t holding his breath on account of the Seahawks possible playoff chances. Turns out that he was right – the Seahawks not only made the playoffs but made (and lost) the Super Bowl that year.

We’re guessing that put the wedding off a bit. We actually weren’t able to find any evidence at all about the wedding ever taking place but that doesn’t mean that it didn’t. Alma Medrano could very well be Christine Michael’s wife at this point – but the Internet hasn’t been informed.

Christine and girlfriend Alma have one child together, a daughter named Mia Blu Michael. Mia was born on or around April Fools Day of 2013, but we’re pretty convinced it’s not a long running joke. I’ve never seen an NFL player post quite as much about his daughter as Christine does. It’s clear that she’s the center of his life, but does raise the question of why his own girlfriend (or possibly wife at this point) is only mentioned in once or twice in three years. I don’t suppose we’ll figure out the answer to that question, but if Christine starts posting more about Alma – we’ll let you know. Especially if it comes with news that they are already married or of a pending wedding.

Ron Rivera’s wife Stephanie Rivera is a coach too. She gave an interview with Andrea Kremer of the NFL Network, and Andrea asked her what it’s like to have two coaches in the family that can talk shop. She said that it’s basically a dynamic where they understand each other a lot more than your average player wife would, although to be fair most player wives know a lot about sports. Stephanie is the head basketball coach of the women’s team at Cathedral, and she used to coach the Washington Mystics, which is pretty cool. The lady knows basketball.

Ron and Stephanie met back in the early 80’s when Ron Rivera’s wife was a talented point guard for Cal. They met and played a bunch of pickup games with friends, and around the third game he asked her out. She eventually tore her ACL and got herself a degree in psychology. ACL injuries are such bummers. But since they have been together since 1983, that means they’ve been together for a long time– roughly 32 years. They’ve got two dogs, a golden retriever and a smaller dog (I’m not going to try and figure out the breed), and they also have two grown children. The kids are named Courtney and Christopher, and they’re both athletes as well.

Stephanie’s a very active lady. She loves to golf, get out in nature, and travel. When Ron Rivera’s wife isn’t busy coaching, she goes hiking with Ron and hangs out by a lake they like to frequent. I’m fairly certain they have a house on a lake in Greenwood, North Carolina. There’s a nice golf course that Stephanie goes to a lot in the summer, and the rest of their time is spent on the lake or hiking. Sounds lovely. Stephanie is a passionate sports fan, and she’s especially keen on California sports. When the Golden State Warriors won the championship, she said she could finally go to sleep at night knowing the Warriors were the champs.

Kony Ealy’s girlfriend Asia Walker gave birth to their first child in November of 2015, and it was reported by the Panthers website that he was on the team plane when he got the call from a family member that his lady was going to pop a week early. When you get to that last month, it’s generally good news that you’re going early rather than late, right? I mean, nobody likes having to wait around past a due date even when such dates aren’t set in stone. Actually, sometimes when you’ve got a due date and you go over it, you end up paying way more insurance if you have the child in a new year (rather than the year you were covered for). So Kony got a round of applause from his teammates after a win over Tennessee, and he was off to the hospital.

The first time I attempted to write about Kony Ealy’s girlfriend,​ ​we​ ​had no idea what her name was, and that’s a bother because of the state of impermanence it implies. That certainly won’t do when the couple has just had a baby!​ ​The young child’s name is Royal, and Kony and Asia threw a party in her honor after they had her. Kony said on Instagram, “No other feeling in life is going to be better than when I see her and she see me eye to eye, that’s a bond at first sight.”​ ​Well, I have to be that guy right now and step in to explain that infants do not possess the ability to process visual stimuli of any kind even days after their birth. They can​ ​occasionally track movement in the way a smart camera can, but that’s about it. However, nobody should tell that to Kony because it’s a nice thought to have as a new father. My wiki-informed input is meaningless to a happy new NFL dad.

Asia and Kony took some pictures of the two of them with Royal at Thanksgiving, and Kony’s been extremely supportive to Asia in her first few weeks as a new mom. He’s said there’s no other feeling like being a father. Let’s not forget about Kony and Asia being dog owners! That’s a good feeling too, and the couple own a four top-bred Boerboels. Kony Ealy’s girlfriend has completed the trifecta: a cool boyfriend, a​ ​bunch of charming pets, and a beautiful new baby girl.

David Johnson’s girlfriend Meghan Brock​ has been counting down the days until she can officially say “this man is mine.” She put up a post on her Instagram recently that talked about the exact number of days until she could say as much (in case you thought I was making that up for effect). The actual engagement happened sometime very close to June 5 of 2015, as that was the date David posted the picture of her holding up her ring, newly placed on her finger. I’d bet money that was the actual date too since people who use social media regularly quickly become highly efficient at disseminating big life events on the day they happen. Their wedding is scheduled for April of 2016.

The couple have a very young black labrador retriever that they got in June, and his name is Emmitt. You can guess who he’s named after. David Johnson’s girlfriend Meghan takes a lot of the same health supplements that the big guy does, and he takes a helluva’ lot of them. He took a picture of all of them in a kind of display and addressed it to Meghan, saying that he got them the very best ones. I like a couple that’s committed to health like that, but for me it’s nearly impossible to stay consistent the way disciplined professional athletes and their fiancees tend to. The couple reside in a house that was bought in May when the family-settling process had just begun. Think about the efficiency of it all: within one month, they bought a house, bought a new family dog, and got engaged. That’s a whirlwind of future planning right there. I suppose I should mention they got a fully-loaded Dodge Charger in that same timeframe.

Meghan is your classic supportive football girlfriend. Blonde, religious, incredibly devoted chronicler of his career and ambitions. What more could you want? She’s 22 years old, and she loves chocolate and hanging out with Emmitt the labrador. The sports agency that represents David recently sent David Johnson’s girlfriend a large shipment of fancily-wrapped chocolates, and she was more than happy to accept the thoughtful gift. When they went out to a Chinese restaurant a few months before, Meghan received a fortune cookie message that read “a sporting event will bring good changes to your life.” This lady has got some good food connections happening!
